Today, we were introduced to the Fregnent School. This school, out of the three we visited in Addis Ababa, is the one that I consider to have had the most impact on myself as a teacher. We had been told prior to our arrival that the students spoke minimal English and once we arrived, I realized that even the word minimum is an understatement. Many of the students I encountered were the basics such as numbers, colors, and body parts in English. The knowledge of these, however, were on a very basic level and many of them seemed to lack the meaning behind many English words they were learning. The teachers also knew a very limited amount of English.

Even though we looked different from them and spoke a different language, the students automatically wanted to be near us and invited us into their games and dance.

Later that evening, we went to a restaurant that performed live music and dance for you

while you ate! The dances, songs, and dress were all different based on what region of Ethiopia it was depicting and it was so much fun to watch. We spent the rest of the night eating injera, dancing (yes, we even went on the stage), and being surrounded by good company.
