Today went smoother than yesterday, but still was not really what I hoped for. We were told we were given an hour to teach this day broken up into two 30 minute segments. This was definitely more structure than we had received than the day before which was definitely helpful. Sarah (one of the other girls on the trip) needed to use that time with the class to work on her honors thesis so I really did not get any time to teach. I had lessons and activities planned to use throughout the day if I was given the chance, but the teacher pretty much used all the time for her own lesson plans.

I had an entire art integrated lesson plan already planned out and ready to go, but it was looking as though I would not have the time in the current class I was in to teach it. At lunch, we decided that if I were to switch to a class in which the partnership teacher allotted more time to letting us teach, I would be able to follow through with my lesson. I won't lie, I was a bit apprehensive about this. The main reason was that I did not want to leave the students that I had been with and created a rapport with for the past three days. I knew that in the end, this opportunity would be better for me and allow me to grow as a teacher.

Side note: I saw something at the beginning of today that was incredibly inspiring and worth mentioning. When we got to the school, the students and

teacher were taking part in something they called a ground clean up. This is a

way to involve the students in cleaning by pulling weeds and picking up trash not only inside the school grounds, but also around it. In a city where it seems as though the amount of trash outruns the people, it's encouraging to see a community of people who still care about making the environment that surrounds them clean.
