Day 5: Ethiopian hospitality at its finest

The beginning of day 5 was started with exhaustion. We had been up pretty late the night before which made for some droopy eyes and straight beelines for the coffee the next morning. Luckily, the day was a rather calm one as we were back at the International Community School to observe for one more day. We also were able to have a question/answer time with the director of the school. This was particularly interesting to me as our group geared our questions towards the application process of working for an International Community School. Since many of us are interested in teaching abroad, we wanted to know what exact criteria International Schools look for when hiring.
After our day at the school ended, we got to spend time at Zac's house with his beautiful family and lots of good food. Injera is an Ethiopian delicacy and is something that I have never encountered or even heard of before this trip.

Injera: A spongy type of bread (almost rolled like a burrito when you get it) that is used to soak up different spices and foods that are served which replaces the need for silverware.
I found Injera to be a little bitter for my taste, but I loved the different foods that were served with it. My favorite were the spicer foods that I ended up mixing with rice which was a positively delightful combination!
This night ended up being one of my favorites out of the nights we spent in Ethiopia. We were surrounded by good food, beer/wine, laughter, conversation, and company. Zac opened up his home to us and treated us like we were his family. It was a night that filled me with lots of of warm and fuzzy vibes.
